Professional Volleyball Tournament Spikes Providence Waterfront

Who:  The Extreme Volleyball Professionals beach volleyball tour, better known as the EVP Tour powered by Corona Light*, brings its Island Girls and Cabana Boys to the 1st annual Summerfest Providence.  Local host Chris Perrotti, General Manager of the Newport Yachting Center, in conjunction with the Rhode Island Sports Council,** welcomes the top ten men's and women's players of EVP Tour.

John T. Mousseau, Executive Director of the Rhode Island Sports Council, states, "We are delighted to showcase the talents of EVP athletes at a new and exciting Providence venue that promises to be home to many top notch events."  Mousseau emphasizes, "This just opens up another area of the capital city to family friendly events."

Adds Chris Perrotti, "We are excited to have the EVP Tour at Summerfest Providence.  The festival is an eclectic celebration of summer in the Ocean State.  What better way to do that, than by bringing the beach to the city?"

What: Top teams compete for $10,000 during an EVP invitation-only island exhibition format during Summerfest Providence.  Fans and families are invited to take part in the action, participating in contests and clinics.

When: Saturday and Sunday, August 18th and 19th, from 10-8pm each day.  Press and player meet and greet Friday, August 17th.  (Time and location to be announced.)  Press registration can be arranged through Marjorie Dellas, public relations coordinator. Of-age spectators are invited to attend the Corona Light EVP players' after parties, Saturday and Sunday nights.
